Levelling Up: Vinyl 2LP
Status Quoâs eighth studio album, "On The Level", was released in February 1975, and included the single âDown Downâ, which gave the band their only number-one hit to date. When the record was released, Quo were more or less at the peak of their career, record sales-wise. The album entered the chart at #1.Â
Just a couple of days before "On The Level" was released, Status Quo were in Germany, and on Feb 22nd, performed at the Rheingold Halle, in Mainz, where they put on a superb show which was recorded for live radio broadcast across Europe. Playing cuts from the new record, mixed with a fine selection of back catalogue favourites, and a couple of choice covers - in the form of The Doors' âRoadhouse Bluesâ, and an extended version of Chuck Berryâs âBye Bye Johnnyâ, the concert was a huge success which the crowd clearly went crazy for.Â
